An IECA member educational consultant is a skilled professional who provides counseling to help students and families choose a school, college, or other program that is a good personal match: one that will foster the student’s academic and social growth.

COLLEGE PLANNING & TEST PREP

We help your student find the right college for them — knowing that ultimately, it’s not just the college they can get into, it’s the one they can graduate from.

PLANNING

ILLUMII’s holistic approach carries into supporting the college planning process. Our expert guides offer a completely personalized approach to college admissions. This doesn’t look the same for each family or even each student within the same family. Thus, we don’t offer our services in ‘packages’ as many college planners do. We are an ‘a la carte’ practice, meaning you can choose support in the areas that you need it most. Some of our planning services include:

  • Guidance and strategy on course choices 8th - 12th grades

  • Transcript reviews

  • Meetings with students to help them understand the impact of GPA and grades weighting

  • Consultation on extracurriculars and service opportunities

  • Setting timelines for the application process

PREPARING

Preparing for college admission can take many forms. Some of the ways we help families include:

  • Using tools like StrengthsFinders and/or Strong Interest Inventory to help students understand themselves, their strengths and aptitudes.

  • Test preparation: We use a distinctive diagnostic approach to determine on which college entrance exam your student would likely perform best. We use practice tests and prior tests to determine the areas in which students need the most preparation.

  • Common App Preparation Support

  • Essay Writing Workshops

  • FAFSA/CSS Profile Support and Guidance

  • Interview preparation

  • Resume Guidance and Review

COLLEGE CHOICE RESEARCH

Often families are not aware of the many colleges, universities, and/or scholarships available to them. We help students and families find the opportunities open to them in the following ways:

  • Guidance through a unique structured interview process that helps to reveal a multi-faceted and individualized profile toward narrowing (or widening) college selection

  • College tour guidance

  • Scholarship research and preparation

PREPARING

We provide remarkable and measurable improvement through our one-on-one ACT/SAT Test preparation program.

Properly completing the Common Application (Common App) is a very important step in the college admissions process. Our consultants work with seniors to support that process.

Writing essays for college applications can be one of the most daunting parts of the process. Our consultants help students choose the best prompts and guide the process from idea generation to editing.

ACT/SAT Test PREPARATION


Jackie Hundt has successfully helped over 100 students significantly prepare for and increase their SAT/ACT scores. Our process helps students work smarter not harder and includes one on one practice:

  • Using diagnostics to determine the ‘best’ fit test (ACT or SAT) so the student can spend time studying and preparing for the test on which they will likely have the most success.

  • Using diagnostics to pin point areas that need remediation

  • Preparing students with study skills, techniques, timing strategies, and commonly misunderstood questions

  • Helping students understand the best ways to efficiently solve problems

  • Preparing practice tests centered around the areas students need

Typically we suggest a 4 session package - with the understanding that the student will work on practice tests between sessions (no need to pay for someone to watch a student practice!).
